
Lahore: Under the vision of Maryam Nawaz Sharif and the directives of Provincial Minister for Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal Sohail Shaukat Butt, Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal Department has accelerated its province-wide “Say No To Beggary” campaign through awareness programs and coordinated enforcement measures.
In Khanewal, an important meeting was chaired by Divisional Director Social Welfare Multan Um-e-Farwah Hamdani, attended by Deputy Director Social Welfare Muhammad Umar, representatives of social organizations, traffic police, and law enforcement agencies. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to making the anti-beggary drive more effective and inclusive.
In Lodhran, officials briefed NGO representatives on campaign responsibilities, daily reporting procedures, and submission of pictorial evidence under the “Say No To Beggary” campaign.
Awareness activities were also carried out in Mianwali, Khushab, Bhakkar, and Sargodha divisions, where seminars, pamphlet distribution drives, and awareness banners were organized to educate the public about the harmful effects of professional beggary and the importance of supporting deserving individuals.

In Sahiwal Division, a high-level meeting chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner General Niaz Ahmad Mughal reviewed ongoing efforts and decided to launch a coordinated crackdown against professional beggary with support from police, traffic police, and the Child Protection Bureau.
Officials stated that beggary remains a serious social issue requiring collective efforts from government institutions, civil society, and the public through awareness, rehabilitation, and law enforcement strategies.
