LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has urged provincial lawmakers to maintain close public contact and accelerate the delivery of welfare initiatives across constituencies, emphasizing swift development during meetings with regional delegations.

During discussions with Okara assembly members, she highlighted ongoing programs like the Suthra Punjab sanitation campaign, the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar scheme, and the deployment of new electro-bus services that offer free travel to students, seniors, and women.

In a separate administrative review covering clean water infrastructure, the Chief Minister evaluated progress on establishing 2,778 new water filtration plants spanning nine districts.

Emphasizing that clean drinking water is a fundamental right, she ordered authorities to rehabilitate 736 non-functional filtration plants and expedited operations at regional water bottling plants capable of supplying thousands of daily units.

Additionally, the provincial government officially announced the return of Lahore’s cultural spring festivity, confirming that Basant Lahore 2027 is scheduled for March 12 to 14, 2027. Following successful celebrations earlier this year, CM Maryam invited local youth, overseas Pakistanis, and global visitors to participate in the upcoming cultural revival.
