Launch of Himmat Card Phase-III and Distribution of Assistive Devices in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi: Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal Department Punjab organized an event in Rawalpindi to launch Phase-III of the Himmat Card Program for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and to distribute assistive devices to beneficiaries.

Provincial Minister for Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal Punjab, Sohail Shoukat Butt attended the ceremony as the chief guest, while MNA Tahira Aurangzeb participated as the guest of honor. The event was also attended by assembly members, Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi, Divisional Director Social Welfare, officers of various departments and PWDs with their families.

During the event, Himmat Cards and assistive devices including tri-motorcycles, electric and manual wheelchairs, and tricycles were distributed among beneficiaries.

Speaking on the occasion, Sohail Shoukat Butt said that Phase-III of the program has been launched in Rawalpindi Division, under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who is taking practical steps for the welfare of PWDs. He added that 65,000 beneficiaries were supported last year and 100,000 this year, with a target of 200,000 by next year.

The Minister said that under the Himmat Card, registered individuals receive Rs. 10,500 quarterly assistance.

MNA Tahira Aurangzeb praised Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif as “the true voice of the underprivileged,” emphasizing that helping the marginalized is key to building an inclusive society.
