
LAHORE: Punjab University (PU) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali has formally inaugurated the Centre for Civility and Integrity Development (CCID) at the university.
Addressing the ceremony, Prof Dr Muhammad Ali highlighted the pivotal role of universities in social reform and national development. He said that higher education institutions, in collaboration with national and provincial bodies, can significantly contribute to promoting tolerance, patience, and mutual respect in society. He also paid tribute to the armed forces and national leadership for their efforts in ensuring the country’s security and stability.
Director CCID Dr Shabbir Ahmad Khan stressed the importance of strengthening the moral and ethical character of the younger generation alongside academic education. Brigadier Asjad Baloch underscored the need for enhanced coordination between national institutions and universities, stating that close cooperation is essential for national security and protection. He described youth as the nation’s greatest asset and emphasized the frontline role of teachers in shaping students’ intellectual and moral foundations.
In his remarks, Colonel Rehan Khan highlighted the importance of conducting research on key national issues in addition to teaching and learning. He noted that modern, structured research is vital to addressing societal challenges such as imbalance, intolerance, and extremism, and that universities can effectively undertake this responsibility through collaboration between faculty members and students.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, participants agreed to further strengthen coordination between national and provincial institutions and universities. Faculty members and students reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with national security institutions. Earlier, the Vice Chancellor cut the ribbon and unveiled the commemorative plaque to mark the inauguration.
