
LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Ramesh Singh Arora visited Youhanabad on Tuesday, where he celebrated Christmas festivities with orphan children, spreading joy and goodwill.
A colourful ceremony was organised on the occasion, during which the provincial minister distributed Christmas gifts among the children. Delicious food was also served to the attendees. As part of the celebrations, it was highlighted that 12-day Christmas festivities are being held across the province under the auspices of the Human Rights and Minority Affairs Department with great enthusiasm.
Addressing the ceremony, Ramesh Singh Arora said that Christmas is not only a religious festival but also carries a universal message of love, peace, and humanity. He shared that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had issued special instructions to celebrate Christmas with orphan children to ensure they feel included and valued.
The minister stated that minorities are equal partners in the development of Punjab and reaffirmed that under the leadership of CM Maryam Nawaz, the rights of minority communities are fully protected. He emphasised that the Punjab government believes in taking practical steps for minority welfare and has introduced historic initiatives in this regard.
He further added that the increase in Minority Cards is a significant and practical gift for the Christian community. Ongoing efforts are also being made in collaboration with educational institutions, churches, and community representatives. For the first time in Punjab’s history, religious festivals of minority communities are being celebrated at the official level. The 12-day Christmas celebrations will continue across Punjab under government arrangements.
