LAHORE: The Punjab University Book Fair, regarded as Pakistan’s largest book fair, has set a new record with the sale of more than 230,000 books, according to the final figures released by the organizers.

Punjab University Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali said the remarkable sales reflected the public’s continued interest in reading and books. “Books are a source of knowledge, and their importance can never diminish,” he said, highlighting the enduring value of reading despite rapid technological advancements.

The annual event also featured a vibrant literary festival, adding to its cultural significance. The festival included book-launching ceremonies by renowned Pakistani authors and a poetry recital, providing a platform for literary expression and engagement.

The record-breaking sales underscored the public’s interest in accessible books and literary activities. The event also highlighted the role of educational institutions in encouraging reading habits, supporting local authors and promoting literary culture across Pakistan.
