Lahore: The Lahore Traffic Police has launched a citywide awareness campaign urging motorists to give priority to ambulances and other emergency vehicles in an effort to improve emergency response times and help save lives.

The campaign, titled “Give Way to Ambulances Because the First Right is the Right to Life,” has been initiated under the direction of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Abdul Raheem Shirazi.

According to the CTO, traffic wardens across Lahore have been instructed to ensure that ambulances and other emergency vehicles receive unobstructed passage on roads and, wherever possible, are provided signal-free movement through busy intersections.

Abdul Raheem Shirazi emphasized the importance of public cooperation, urging citizens to demonstrate civic responsibility by immediately making way for emergency vehicles. He noted that even a few seconds saved during an emergency could make a critical difference in saving a person’s life.

The awareness drive aims to educate road users about the importance of respecting emergency vehicle sirens and maintaining clear lanes for ambulances, fire brigades, and rescue services.

The Lahore Traffic Police has appealed to motorists to follow traffic rules and actively support emergency responders, ensuring that patients and individuals in distress receive timely medical assistance.

Officials believe the campaign will help foster a culture of road safety and public responsibility, ultimately contributing to more efficient emergency services across the city.
