Lahore: To mark GIS Day 2025, WWF-Pakistan launched its groundbreaking Plantation and Carbon Sequestration Dashboard, a cutting-edge geospatial platform designed to transform the monitoring, validation, and communication of large-scale restoration efforts across the country.
The new dashboard delivers unprecedented transparency and real-time visibility into one of Pakistan’s largest conservation-driven tree plantation programmes, setting a new national benchmark for digital accountability in environmental restoration.
Developed locally by specialists at the Richard Garstang Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Lab, the platform visualizes Pakistan’s restoration footprint through interactive mapping tools, field-verified data, and advanced spatial analytics. The result is a dynamic and accessible system that enables stakeholders—from conservationists to policymakers—to assess progress with clarity and precision.
The launch underscores WWF-Pakistan’s commitment to harnessing technology, science, and community engagement to accelerate ecosystem restoration and build a climate-resilient future for the country.
