Punjab Approves Rs. 12000 Monthly Stipend For The Visually Challenged

Lahore: Punjab government has approved a monthly stipend of Rs12,000 for 5,000 registered visually impaired beneficiaries aimed at ensuring their financial security and social inclusion, says a handout.

According to a spokesperson for Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Mal Department, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz took the step to uplift visually impaired citizens of the province.

The spokesperson said the provincial authorities had successfully concluded negotiations with the representatives of the visually impaired protestors.

On the directions of Provincial Minister for Social Welfare Sohail Shaukat Butt, a team of senior officers headed by Director General Tariq Qureshi engaged with the protesters and held meetings with their representatives to ensure that all concerns were addressed.

The spokesperson said the department had also notified a separate job quota specifically for visually impaired individuals, ensuring equal representation within the overall 3% disability quota.

Additionally, all government departments were instructed to ensure the immediate implementation of the disability quota and to advertise all vacant posts reserved for persons with disabilities.

The spokesperson emphasized that the Punjab government remained committed to providing economic relief and comprehensive social protection to visually impaired citizens, enabling them to live with dignity and independence.
