LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister’s e-bike scheme has received more than 607,000 applications, following over 1.3 million registrations, reflecting strong interest among young people in the province.

The application process for the scheme has been completed, and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed the relevant authorities to finalise the remaining procedures at the earliest.

Under the initiative, 100,000 successful applicants will receive electric bikes through a balloting process. The bikes will be provided on easy monthly instalments of Rs3,000, while the Punjab government will bear the entire interest cost.

Female students selected under the scheme will also receive free driving training on the chief minister’s directives.

The initiative aims to facilitate students’ daily commute, reduce transportation expenses and improve access to educational institutions, particularly for female students.

The chief minister said the provincial government would utilise all possible resources to help young people, especially female students, pursue their education and achieve their goals.

She added that electric bikes would make commuting more convenient for female students while helping them save on monthly expenses.

“Every son and daughter of Punjab is very special to me,” she said.
