LAHORE: The provincial capital recorded an alarming Air Quality Index (AQI) of 291 on Sunday, placing the city in the “very unhealthy” category. Data from IQAir indicated that Lahore’s PM2.5 concentration was 28.4 times higher than the World Health Organisation’s annual guideline.

Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb urged citizens—particularly children, the elderly and those with respiratory issues—to avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure. She advised increased use of masks, adequate water intake and immediate medical attention in case of breathing difficulties.

Meteorological officials said continental air was prevailing across most regions of the country. They forecast cold and dry weather for the majority of areas, with very cold conditions expected in northern parts during morning and night hours.
