
LAHORE: Secretary Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Maal Department Punjab Saira Omar chaired a series of meetings after assuming charge of his office to review the overall performance of the Social Welfare Department and its attached institutions.
During the meetings, she was briefed on the department’s administrative structure, ongoing development projects, and welfare initiatives. Detailed briefings were given on the functions and performance of the Directorate General Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Maal Punjab, Punjab Bait-ul-Maal Council, and the Council on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).
The secretary was also informed about the working of the Chief Minister’s Complaint Cell and various departmental online portals. Special discussions were held on the chief minister’s flagship welfare initiatives, including the Himmat Card, Dhee Rani Programme, and the Assistive Devices and Wheelchairs Programme for persons with disabilities.

She was further briefed on the Punjab Women Protection Authority, focusing on measures to prevent gender-based violence, ongoing projects, and the future roadmap. Matters related to the Punjab Welfare Trust for the Disabled and efforts to strengthen NGOs were also discussed.
The meetings were attended by Additional Secretary Social Welfare Amina Munir, DG Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Maal Punjab Tariq Qureshi, DG Punjab Women Protection Authority Kalsoom Saqib, along with senior officers of the concerned departments.
