LAHORE: The fifth and final polio National Immunisation Days (NIDs) campaign of 2025 will begin across Punjab on Monday, with the goal of vaccinating more than 17 million children under the age of five against the poliovirus.

Ahead of the campaign, Adeel Tasawur, Head of the Punjab Polio Programme and Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) Coordinator, said that over 200,000 trained polio workers and supervisors will be deployed across the province to ensure that no child is missed.

“Despite significant progress, poliovirus remains a serious threat. Sustaining momentum through high-quality campaigns is critical to interrupt transmission,” Tasawur said.

Due to its designation as a core reservoir district, Lahore will observe an extended seven-day immunisation campaign, while vaccination activities in all other districts of Punjab will continue for four days.

Health authorities have urged parents to cooperate with vaccination teams to protect children from lifelong disability caused by polio.
