Provincial Minister Chairs Meeting To Review Social welfare Initiatives

LAHORE: On the special directions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, the pace of social welfare projects across the province is being accelerated to ensure timely public relief.

An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister for Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Maal, Sohail Shoukat Butt to review ongoing development initiatives and departmental affairs. Director General(DG) Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Maal Punjab Tariq Qureshi, Director (P&E) Muhammad Suleman, Director Programs Muzammil Yar along with Divisional Directors from across Punjab, attended the meeting.

The meeting conducted a detailed review of development projects underway in all divisions, including Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Dera Ghazi Khan. Discussions were held on budgets of social welfare institutions, departmental matters, and the future course of action to further strengthen social welfare services.

It was decided to establish a Social Welfare Complex in District Nankana Sahib, while proposals regarding the construction of Deputy Directors’ offices in various districts were also discussed. Additionally, the establishment of a Sanatzar building in Pakpattan and a Children Home in Gujranwala came under consideration.

The participants also exchanged views on improving help desks of Medical Social Services Units in hospitals, with the aim of facilitating deserving patients more effectively. Proposals for setting up new welfare institutions and new buildings of the Social Welfare Department were also deliberated upon.

Officers from the Directorate and various divisions presented their suggestions, while Provincial Minister Sohail Shoukat Butt issued necessary directions for effective implementation.

Speaking on the occasion, the Provincial Minister Sohail Shoukat Butt stated that the Social Welfare Department is fully active in line with the vision of the Chief Minister Punjab for public welfare. He emphasized that ensuring the comfort, convenience, and well-being of residents of welfare institutions remains the top priority of the department.

He further added that the launch of new welfare schemes and development projects is among the key priorities of the department to serve the vulnerable segments of society more efficiently.
