
Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Thursday inaugurated the Maryam Nawaz Center of Excellence for Special Education Students in Shalimar Town, Lahore, and formally launched the CM School Meal Program for Special Education Students by ringing the lunchtime bell.
During her visit, the Chief Minister interacted affectionately with the students, distributing milk packs and biscuits. A special girl fed her a biscuit and told her, “You are very sweet.” Maryam Nawaz also wrote on a classroom whiteboard and received correct answers from the children. She observed visually impaired students reading Braille, took photos with them, and appreciated their artwork and handicrafts. A special child presented her a handmade letterhead, while another gifted her a framed portrait.
The Chief Minister inspected key facilities including the ECE classroom, physical activity room, speech and language therapy room, PD classroom, smart classroom, and computer lab. She expressed satisfaction over the employment of eight special students at the center. Children later raised Pakistan Zindabad slogans in sign language as she sat among them during the ceremony.
Special Assistant on Special Education Sania Ashiq briefed that Centers of Excellence for Special Education Students have been established in 28 districts, with over 6,000 new admissions recorded across Punjab.
