
LAHORE: The Punjab government’s flagship cleanliness programme, Suthra Punjab, has received international recognition, with China’s leading English-language newspaper China Daily highlighting it as an outstanding example of modern and environment-friendly waste management.
In its report, China Daily praised the initiative’s innovative waste-to-value model, noting that it has attracted global attention and sparked interest among Chinese investors and technology partners. The programme was described as a reflection of Pakistan’s growing commitment to sustainable urban development and climate-conscious governance.
The report further noted that Suthra Punjab aligns closely with international climate-smart urban management practices, positioning Punjab as an emerging player in environmentally responsible municipal services.
